What's wrong with books?
Do you think really short stories are "gaining popularity" because we all grew up with Sesame Street and AOL online and fast-paced pop culture figures like Mr. Rogers and now we all have really short attention spans and can't concentrate on things longer than a few minutes because we get distracted by--

People didn't read then and they don't read now. Some percentage of people will and do, and I am glad to be among them.
ReplyDeleteThis idea that we are all fucked up from the internet doesn't explain why my neighbors growing up all watched Dynasty instead of reading Forster.
Categorically we are jerks, and our habits reflect this. We care about lit journals when we want to be in them, because we are ambitious little weasels.
